It pays for venues to double up these days - bar and restaurant, spa and pool, eat in or takeaway. But how about photo art gallery turns nightclub..?

Sounds cool doesn’t it? And it is cool, if not somewhat commercial which kind of spoils the cool. Proud Gallery, nestled in the stables market of hip Camden can boast of be one of the most unique and intriguing venues in London. During the day seductive lighting creates a suave and stylish ambience in which to browse a host of photographs depicting some of the biggest names in modern music.

In the evening, Proud turns from on show to show off as a DJ’s and live bands do their best to get this party started. And to be fair, the eclectic blend of tunes is sufficient to satisfy almost any tastes. The bands are either unsigned or up and coming, but credit to the producers who have a good ear for rising talent. The DJ’s can also be applauded for the variety of tunes they spin - popular yes, but cheesy no. Well, not so much.

Two rooms, three bars and a handful of stables for hire means proud is spacious and pulls a decent sized crowd, most of whom are easy-going, pretty cool and pretty. To bag a private stable contact the venue directly. They are ideal for a celebration or even if there is a large group of you. You get your own private space to sit and leave your drinks and for entertainment there’s a pole on a raised platform in the middle for…well you make you’re own fun!

The only downside is you have to leave an email address before you can enter which means junk mail in your inbox and you have to show ID before being allowed through the door. Fair enough if you’re still at school and barely started shaving, but I’m 35 have been donning xxl shirts for years and was wearing stubble! Weird!

Spur of the Moment is a theatre show at the Jerwood Theatre in the Royal Court. The young cast of the Spur of the Moment makes this show fresh and lovely. The plot of Anya Reiss is very light and realistic.

Delilah Evans, the main character, is a 12 year old girl who has a crush on an older boy, the 21 year old Daniel Mast. Delilah’s friends find the whole situation more amusing than anything else plus Leonie, Daniel’s girlfriend, poses another threat when she shows up and decide to hang around. Delilah’s parents, Vicky and Nick, allow us to view the relationship in a different way through their eyes. They bicker and argue over anything from their daughter to acne scarring, with Delilah’s dad having an affair with his 50-year old boss. The characters are carefully picked, from Delilah’s friends to the main characters of the show.

Anya Reiss has been writing since she was 17 years old and was part of the Royal Court’s Young Writer’s Programme. One of her talents is to write about mundane, everyday scenes and translate them into interesting and moving plays with dialogue that reaches its climax on its own.

The play has such a vibrant flare along with the music of High School Musical and other current pop music. The playful side of the youngsters and their thought of actually having a boyfriend in public is such a hit to the audience. The fighting parents also gives a touch of mature entertainment making this play something that the young and adults will enjoy.

Director Jeremy Herrin did quite a good job at Spur of the Moment. Reiss also done a wonderful job in combining youth theatre with writing and acting that is prime and moving- the result being a sharp and funny play that is both light and touching. Spur of the Moment is a must-see that will definitely entertain audience from all age brackets.

As a former vegetarian driven back to meat eating by a chronic lack of quality and variety, particularly in restaurants, I approached Zilli Green with some trepidation. The 100% vegetarian venture from celebrity restaurateur Aldo Zilli, the Soho eaterie has drawn mixed reviews since it opened, apparently failing to match up to its ambition to be a quality accessible veggie establishment in the heart of the West End.

First impressions are good - lying just yards from Theatreland, the restaurant exterior looks refined, with a neat terrace and clean, bright decor. At the start of the peak dinner period, the restaurant is lively but not overcrowded - dropping in for a meal here is entirely possible even though we’re in the centre of town -whilst service is quick and friendly. The menu seems to balance fresh and healthy ingredients in familiar, appetising recipes. The question is whether the food can deliver on this promise.

The starters we order - mezze and tempura - are certainly well prepared if reminiscent of a veggie starter at a dinner party. Happily the main courses offer both quality and originality. The chimichangas filled with sweet potato are delicious, and would be a welcome addition to any menu, vegetarian or otherwise. As a whole, the mains offer a range of classic dishes, from casseroles to burgers, each adding a twist without sacrificing quality. Served straight out of the oven with hand towels, so you never have to worry about food being pre-prepared!

Dessert offers some ingenious twists on popular puddings, most notably a vegan tiramisu made with tofu. It’s a fitting end to an impressive meal from a restaurant that has received a surprisingly poor press. Well placed, reasonably priced and offering an inventive yet familiar menu, Zilli Green fills an obvious gap in the vegetarian market that has long been overlooked. It’s a welcome addition to the array of restaurant choices in the West End of London.

London</place /> happens to be a city which is known for its numerous tourist destinations, ranging from various parks and monuments to the pop up displays of artists and performers on the South Bank in the summer. But perhaps of all the places that you will get to visit, there happens to be one attraction that you must see before leaving, and this is referred to as the London Eye. This is a giant one hundred and thirty five meter tall Ferris wheel which is situated along the banks of River Thames. Its significance emanates from the fact that it happens to be the tallest Ferris wheel in Europe, and it has an annual tourist visits topping three million people.

It was first erected in 1999 and it was by then the tallest in the world until 2006 when another one was erected in Nanchang, China. The most interesting thing about it, is the fact that it happens to be supported by an a frame on the sides only, thus making it the world’s tallest observation wheel which is cantilevered. With a total of thirty-two egg shaped passenger capsules which are air conditioned, this is truly a sight to behold, and worth noting is the fact that each capsule has a carrying capacity of twenty five people.

The wheel rotates at twenty six centimeters per second, and another interesting thing about it is that it never stops to either allow passengers to board the capsules or even disembark. It is usually slow enough, to the extent that people can alight and get on it. The only time that it is usually stopped is when there happens to be an elderly or disabled person willing to board. Tie rods support the rim of this eye, and it assumes the look of a huge bicycle wheel. Its lighting is through LED and as such there happens to be some digital control over them.

So if you are in London give the London Eye a visit you my find that you will be getting on again and again.

If you are planning on throwing a party in London The Zoo is the perfect club. They have lots to offer at very reasonable prices. The Zoo is a very trendy club. They play great music and always have something going on. There is no shortage of lovely ladies dancing around and having a great time. You will be able to meet tons of chicks there. They serve great food too. You can get there a little bit early to have a bite to eat with the boys and pregame a little. Then when the time suits you can get up and dance or just hang out. The Zoo offers great party rates as well. You can get a discount on things if you plan ahead and call and make reservations. They have several different party packages available at great prices and one of them will surely suit your needs.

If you are doing the couples thing this club is still a great find. There is plenty of very modern furniture to sit on so you do not constantly have to be standing or dancing. There is lots of room throughout the club so you do not have to worry about always being bumped by someone or having drinks spilled on you. There is a certain level of class this club has. It does not have a stuck up aura about it though. You will not see just any Tom, Dick, or Harry in The Zoo. But you will also miss out on the page 3 girls or “at the moment”stars and wags that look like a walking advert for ’breast implants pay monthly’. It is a place for those who want to have a great time but do not need a ton of drama. There aren’t a bunch of fights or people getting belligerent and getting out of hand. It is just a great spot for having a great night. Make sure to call and make a reservation.

Summing up “The Best Turkish Kebab”- it lives up to its name! This is truly a unique and sensational Kebab shop.

Going to a normal fast food restaurant, and looking at the Doner Kebab rotate on the machine, isn’t a pretty site. Whereas in The Best Turkish Kebab, in Stoke Newington N16 the Doner Kebab is perfect, the centrepiece of activity, a wondrous melange. The Doner Kebab is high quality, they promise that you get nothing but meat, no bulking agents and lesser fat compared to others (I’m not saying its low fat, but the fat drips out compared to others which taste of nothing but fat). The chilli sauce is to die for; it is so spicy, yet tasty with the kebab and chips. I don’t drink, so I don’t know how a kebab tastes while drunk.

Their other products are great too. Their grilled cheeseburgers are tasty and flame grilled, their chips are crispy and fluffy, just the way we like it, even their Sutlac (rice pudding and cinnamon) is lovely. They have many other items on sale, including humus, grilled chicken, and fresh salad. When you buy “Doner in a box” (Enough Doner for four people in one of their bespoke packaging boxes) you get their signature chilli sauce, a box of salad and some pita bread so it’s a takeaway for four.

We have seen numerous articles dotted around in the shop, many articles of praise from newspapers and magazines, so you know that you get quality when you shop here. The Best Turkish Kebab is like no other kebab shop, it is clean, sterile, and even passing by makes you crave a kebab!

FARRINGDON - A place where strip clubs are the order of the day and things go bump in the night. Down a dark street, a dark secret lays hidden. It may be because of general unawareness, or it may be because of it’s name. GHOST - a club like no other. My idea of the sort of place you’d expect to see Vampires lurk in dark corners, their transluscent skin and icey eyes the only things visible through the black cloak that hides them. During the day, a passer by wouldn’t realise what lies behind the dark doors. But by night, lanterns of fire light the entrance and reveal the secret passage to another world.

As I passed through the long passageway, down into the large dark dungeons, I gazed ahead in wonder. Black walls and floors revealed dark deeds, ornate silver candelabras reaching to the ceiling held glowing candles, their wax licking the floor below. Dark leather seating created dark corner alcoves - a place for a type of “glamorous debauchery.”Antique, ornate furnishings splattered the room, bringing to life something of an ancient, magical nature. Crystal chandeliers hung heavy from the dark ceiling. In the far corner, a king size bed draped with black velvet cloth caught my attention. For a moment I thought it odd, only to think a minute later - it was completely fabulous. The sound of dark bass filled my ear drums. As I headed for the bar, I wondered whether blood was the drink of the night or if my mind was playing tricks on me. It was. Maybe I was getting too carried away with my imagination. Just as the thought graced me with its presence, I glanced across the room to find a Magician, dressed in a long black cloak, performing illusions for the folk standing by. Face painters flickered around the room like servents of a strange God. They painted faces with magical lines and patterns that seemed to hold the message “now you belong.”Fire dancers flew around the dancefloor, swinging balls of fire in time to the music. Everything was in sync, everything worked together. It was like magic.

This wasn’t your average club. It was something entirely different. Like nothing I’d ever seen before. There were no “goths”sporting their black leather armour. The people were of a different nature - part normal with a dark secret of some sort, hidden beneath.

This idea of “dark glamour”is new to me. But I grasp it, hold onto it. I like it. Champagne flows freely and black fur boas elegantly adorn womens'shoulders. Sparkles of silver diamonds aim to impress and tall men in dark suits, alone at the bar, scream for my attention.

This is not your average club. If you are bored of normality, head to Ghost for a delightfully evil clubbing extravaganza. But most of all, dress to impress and leave everything to your imagination.

Some exhilarating news before I run, I was speaking to my brother last night and he has just got a great new role at an hr software company. Well done Oliver!

Ok so you’re making the leap and moving to <city w:st="on"/>London</place /></city />, but what do you need to know before you get here? Well I’ve lived in <city w:st="on"/>Manchester</city />, <city w:st="on"/>Belfast</city /> and <city w:st="on"/>Paris</city /> (from my job teaching overseas) but <city w:st="on"/>London</place /></city /> is where I live now and it’s definitely where I’m going to stay. I absolutely love <city w:st="on"/>London</place /></city /> but living here isn’t always easy. So here are my top tips on how to survive and make the most out of <city w:st="on"/>London</place /></city /> life.

1) Get to know your tube etiquette. If you insist on standing on the left on the escalator then you will get abuse from Londoners, verbal, physical or even (worst of all) psychological - those evil stares and big huffy sighs from commuters can really get to you! Similarly don’t spend ages finding your Oyster card at the ticket barriers, it’s making my flesh crawl just thinking about it. Have your Oyster card ready in your hand as you go through. Speed is everything in this town!

2) Continuing the theme, if you insist on walking down Oxford Street then don’t think you can walk at a leisurely pace. Central London</place /> is for running fast as if you’re late for a job interview, NOT for strolling!

3) Look up. There are loads of cool buildings in <city w:st="on"/>London</place /></city />, so make the most of all that great architecture and flash your eyes to the sky once in a while.

4) When you’re still getting to know <city w:st="on"/>London</place /></city /> treat Time Out as your Bible. Here you can find the best places to eat, drink and make merry and all from a Londoner’s perspective.

5) Enjoy the diversity. Having lived in loads of different places <city w:st="on"/>London</place /></city /> is by far the best in terms of being a multi cultural melting pot. Make the most of it by exploring every inch of this amazing city and eating out at different cafes/restaurants/bagel shops/curry houses each weekend.

6) Revel in <city w:st="on"/>London</place /></city />’s women. I don’t mean this in a sexist way, but <city w:st="on"/>London</place /></city /> has so many people in it and so many cool people that the women in my opinion are some of the best around. On the other hand it is hard to meet people here as it’s not the friendliest of places so it’s a good idea to join up to a group ( a film club, a football team, whatever) so that you can get in with a friendship group, especially if you come here without knowing anyone. That might sound a bit lame or desperate, but trust me it’s a good move as friendships don’t necessarily evolve in the same way as they would in another smaller town.

7) Have fun. <city w:st="on"/>London</place /></city /> is one of the coolest, most exciting places in the world. So be proud to live there. Welcome!

<p align="left"style="TEXT-ALIGN: left; MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">Searching for great food in London can be a difficult feat, even harder than finding appropriate luxury bathroom accessories for your mother in law. But even the most discerning eater can find the right restaurant with the proper guidance, whether it be Street Food, Breakfast, Indian, or a fine romantic night out.

<p align="left"style="TEXT-ALIGN: left; MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">Nothing is quicker and easier than grabbing a quick bite at one of London’s many street vendors, however the best to be seen is Yalla Yalla (“Go! Go!” in Arabic). This quaint Lebanese restaurant in Soho will satisfy your Middle-Eastern taste buds, with homemade authentic hummus and wonderfully prepared prawns and squid. Yalla Yalla will also satisfy your wallet, if need be.

<p align="left"style="TEXT-ALIGN: left; MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">Whether you are going first thing in the morning or mid-afternoon after a heavy night out with friends, nothing is more welcome to the beginning of a day like a fine breakfast. The Albion on Boundary St. will provide your early day greasy needs, with traditional British breakfasts served all day. But be warned: the Albion is incredibly popular and you may have trouble finding a seat when you first arrive. Either be prepared to wait, or book ahead.

<p align="left"style="TEXT-ALIGN: left; MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">Like most Brits, a fine Indian meal is always welcome, and the new addition of Chennai Dosa in the West End will not disappoint. The main benefit of this Indian eatery is that it has a rather low cost menu, if compared to other high end Indian restaurants in town. Here you find your staple Indian fare but without the over the top prices, which, as you may all agree, do not necessarily guarantee fine food.

<p align="left"style="TEXT-ALIGN: left; MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">If you are planning a first date (or a twentieth for that matter) there is a new romantic restaurant that will surely please your significant other: Odette’s. This restaurant is perfect for a romantic evening: quiet, dimly lit, and with the perfect ambience to suit your seductive outing. Serving traditional British fare, you will be able to enjoy the company of your friend without the loud and often-times rude wait staff. Enjoy romance and sensual atmosphere without prying eyes.

What I like about Global Warming scientists who come out with ridiculous claims (like Global Warming isn’t really happening) is this: the rubbish they spout is so profoundly at odds with what we all see around us, and the amount of smog we see pumping out of cars, factories and planes, that it can’t help [...]

What I like about Global Warming scientists who come out with ridiculous claims (like Global Warming isn’t really happening) is this: the rubbish they spout is so profoundly at odds with what we all see around us, and the amount of smog we see pumping out of cars, factories and planes, that it can’t help but make a great many people stand up and shout “rubbish! I don’t believe you!” What I don’t like about these scientists’ ridiculous claims is that there are a certain number of people who will use these claims as an excuse to do anything they damn well like. That includes taking flights to the shops to buy bread and milk, getting tanned with enough energy to power a small Korean town, and brushing their teeth with toothbrushes that house engines powerful enough to create enough energy for an entire day in third-world countries. There, I said it. But I am not alone! To see what I mean, hit the link.

It’s rare for a company to lay their cards on the table, but Enigin do just that. Of course, they are a business too, so it’s only possible to go so far. But the point is admitting that there is a problem to begin with. Those who do not admit there is a problem are only adding to it. They are giving the green light to pollution, and the middle finger to a responsibility that we have had since we grew legs and started walking.

Enigin have some very good ideas, and they aren’t shy about telling you how they intend to implement them in the future, when we will all have to be so much more conscious of the damage we do to the environment, just to be able to walk outside and not experience a hurricane.
