I love music and living in London I am never short of gigs to go to but one in particular has caught my eye and the date 22nd January 2010 has been pencilled in my diary for the last month - Brett Anderson, indie god and Suede fronting legend is playing at the O2 Empire in Shepherd’s Bush.
Suede provided the sound track to my student years in the early 90s and have attained an almost mythical presence at the Read the rest of this entry »

One of my favourite places to go in south London, or South Croydon to be exact, is Le Cassoulet which is named after a French dish. His restaurant is one of Malcolm Johns’ who himself is a well know chef and who also has another restaurant in Chiswick called Le Vacherin.
When you enter the restaurant, you cannot help but feel as if you are somewhere in the South of France. If you go in at lunch time they will have a special £20 menu and if you want to experience the different foods they offer then you should take along a few friends and have each of them order something different each. What you will find is that you will be enjoying the tasty dishes and wanting more.
From Escargots de Bourgogne, Chicken liver parfait, to Soupe a L’Oignon Gratinee, the dishes are mainly French in origin and you can try these luxurious dishes to get an idea of what dining is like in South France. The food is so yummy that your taste buds will be pleased. Their Marinated Cornish Mackerel is to die for.
With its unpolished wooden floors, paper-over-cloth tables, and really nice couches and chairs, the restaurant seats you comfortably. You will complete the experience by dressing up and enjoy what it is like dining out in France. You will hear typical French music in the background, usually of the swing kind.
Le Cassoulet is simply an old fashioned neighbourhood restaurant with a touch of style waiting for you. To be honest it kind of reminded me of the resturant in House Md that they go to in season four, right before he goes crazy. What I am trying to say in a very roundabout way is that it is a very nice place to go and I would ahve to recommend it to all!

Whenever my family and myself decide to go on a family holiday, it is usually to a beach. Normally, we park at our usual caravan site and having a relaxing time. However, nothing actually beats lying on the beach, soaking up the rays of the sun and getting burnt to a crisp. Later on in the evening, once we retire in for the night, we soak ourselves in a tub of lukewarm water and baking soda to take the Read the rest of this entry »

Most people are far more in touch with the environment these days and blogs like Hippy Girl are a great source of green info.
There are some really interesting posts on here, right from things such as the importance of low energy light bulbs through to the benefits of drinking tea.
Anything that helps people to live in harmony with Mother Nature has to be a good thing. However environmentally conscious we think we are, there is normally even more Read the rest of this entry »

Parenting is a very difficult job, Positive parenting even more so. It constantly changes as your children grow up. You have to change your parenting techniques for every year they get older. As your kids grow older, they demand more on you as a parent. They also test you more as well.
Being positive through these growing stages is important, especially when they are little. If you scream and yell all the time, throw temper tantrums and be nasty, how Read the rest of this entry »

Unbelievable. It is the twenty-first century and yet a huge behemoth of a company, like Microsoft, can manage to drop a clanger like this.
Racism is completely unacceptable. It doesn’t matter if we are talking about stupid little things like an offensive advertisement or about lynching’s by the Ku Klux Klan; it all boils down to ignorance. Not only is it ignorant though, it is so pathetic that it hardly warrants me spending time to write about it. The world Read the rest of this entry »
